Vicki Corwin

I am an Independent Calligrapher working from an art studio within my home in Royal Oak, Michigan. Although I often create one-of-a-kind artwork for clients, most of my work centers on weddings, celebrations and diplomas. I have had a life-long love affair with all of the elements of calligraphy –writing instruments, liquids, quills, papers, colors, art, textures and so on …. but the stars truly aligned for me the first time I dipped a steel nib into an inkwell about 33 years ago!!! Calligraphy has been my passion ever since. I have been formally trained in classic and traditional alphabets such as Romans, Uncial, Gothic, Carolingian, Foundational, Italic, Neuland, Copperplate and Spencerian. I’ve been blessed with great teachers, wonderful mentors and now, students, too!

I have served on the Board of Directors of the Michigan Association of Calligraphers for over 20 consecutive years and will soon be serving my fifth term as President. I completed Master Penmen Michael Sull’s year-long Master Class in Engrossing in 2008 and proudly display my diploma in my studio as well as on my web site. (www.theartisticquill.com) I have received additional, and in some cases extensive training in the arts of illumination, design, flourishing, brush lettering and color.

I was honored to be featured in an extensive article in The Detroit Free Press on August 14, 2006. https://www.freep.com/story/life/2016/08/14/calligraphy-vicki-corwin-wedding-handwriting/88519494/

Whenever possible, I enjoy taking workshops and classes to learn new and contemporary calligraphic techniques, or to refresh my skills in the classic alphabets.
